EDUCATION

This can be acquired not only through formal institutions but through other sources also. True knowledge and experience can be obtained from any source, provided this helps in removing superstition, fatalism, idealism, dogmatism etc. Therefore informal and formal education both are important. Today technical, professional and useful education is mainly pursued through non-government institutions and it has now become difficult for the deprived classes to have access to such education because of the fact that it has become a very costly affair. As on date, there is no option except to establish our own educational institutions and to achieve this end what is required is a liberal attitude towards contribution of money, mind and materials.Education must be linked to employment and Profession. Today we need to have institutions like vocational institutions and fashion technology etc. If at all deprived classes want to progress, the only way out for them is good education.

Uneducated man is hardly different from any other animal. The club believes that to educate the people there has to be a movement and this message has to be taken to each uneducated human being .

There is mass disillusionment with government schools. From village to city, there is a strong desire for good education. Even in the villages there is tremendous response to public schools. Though education is costly, yet people are ready to pay for it at the cost of other needs. Truly speaking, it is also not necessary to have big and good buildings at the initial stage. But certainly good standard of education must be there. The club, in its initial stage, wants to establish schools - Buddha public schools in villages, towns and cities, though there may not be its own land and buildings. In due course of time the requirement of land and buildings will be met. Those who want to open schools, training centres or other professional institutes, can approach the National Office of the club.On receipt of such applications and after scrutiny of the same, permission to open a school shall be granted. The management to the schools will be open to specified persons so that accountability can be fixed. However, it does not, mean that local bodies of the club will be kept away from the affairs of the schools. If professional shape is given , there is no reason why these schools should face economic problems or other kind or difficulties.

The policy of the club is to assist most at the initial stages of establishment of schools but it does not mean that the local management should look for all the help from the finances and other requirements from the local resources. Of course, the central body to local bodies will render all sort of help whether it is a matter of land or affiliation of the school etc. The local management is being provided with facilities of registration and other necessary requirements and, in fact, everything will be carried out in the name of the Buddha Education Foundation which is a registered Trust under the Indian Trusts Act, and income tax exemption has also been granted to it. The Club will have its own Education Board which will monitor the standard or education. To impart good and cheap education is our motto and each member of the Club must feel attached and devoted to the development of the schools and vocational institutions Resources are not as important as commitment and devotion. Good education can, in fact be imparted even under the open sky and trees.

The leaders, employees, intellectuals and social workers of Dalit society manage their publicity, contribution and popularity by way of merely celebrating the birth anniversary but do not imbibe the real teachings of Dr.Ambedkar. Education as a movement was not launched by anyone in a systematic way and it is more true in the case of Northern India. It is an open challenge to the leaders and social workers, doctors, employees, educationalists etc of the deprived society to think as to why it was not done and if they wanted they could have created wonders in that direction. Today a constructive and pragmatic approach is required instead of merely indulging in theoretical debates and discussions. Intention and commitment matter more than anything .When Sir Syed Ahmad started the foundation of the Aligarh Muslim University, he did not have resources for it and mobilized even the tiniest possible help. Most of the Muslim personalities in the fields of education, politics, bureaucracy etc. have some kind of linkage with this university and had it not been there, perhaps this progress would not have come to them.

Buddha Club is committed to translate the educational philosophy of Dr. Ambedkar, Jyotiba Phule, Sir Syed Ahmed and like personalities in to reality.
